Oswegatchie is, first and foremost, a summer camp that supports thousands of youth. From time to time, we can fit a wedding into our schedule. We do weddings as fundraising events to help support our mission. |

5 Types of Oswegatchie Weddings…
1. The Everyday Wedding—This option is a "Pop-up" wedding. All you want is to show up, get married, and drive away. Your guests do not need chairs, and you don't need decorations. We recommend a $100 donation as a goodwill gesture to Oswegatchie. When reserved, Oswegatchie will make sure the location is photo-ready.
2. The Everyday Plus Wedding – This option is a "Pop-up" wedding where you need chairs and time to decorate. Oswegatchie staff will set out all the necessary chairs and ensure the space is welcoming and inviting. This type of wedding is available at either our "Commons Area" overlooking Long Pond or under cover in our Pavilion. When the ceremony and pictures are complete, you leave the property. This option is available for $1,000, but payment is required at the time of reservation. Groups will be on-site using other parts of the property.
3. The Getman Package – Our Getman Quad is available if you want a rustic "do it yourself" wedding. For $4,000, you rent the Getman Lodge, its small bathhouse, a few RV spots, and two rustic cabins called "Brown & Green". With this package, you have a 48-hour window to prepare, decorate, and hold a small wedding and reception. Oswegatchie is just renting the space and the million-dollar view. Oswegatchie does not serve meals at this location. The only overnight lodging available with this package is Brown and Green, plus the RV spots for your strategic use. Getman Lodge handles 100 people effectively. The deposit/payment required to hold this spot is $2,000, due at the time of the reservation. Cleaning up the building is also your responsibility. Groups will be on-site using other parts of the property.
4. The Event Wedding – This option takes on the shape of a more traditional wedding—the ceremony will be held overlooking the pond, followed by our reception meal in Sentinel Hall. The event lasts 4-6 hours, and all guests depart. This event is best with limited alcohol, as all guests will be leaving. A flat facility rental fee of $1,000 will also be applied. The Deposit required to hold this spot is $2,000 at the time of reservation. Payment in full is due 24 hours before the ceremony. (Typical Cost $7,000) Other Groups will be on-site using other parts of the property.

The Excelsior package includes an exclusivity rate that prevents other groups from being booked on-site. The wedding party arrives on Friday by noon to set up. The rehearsal and rehearsal dinner take place that night, onsite. Saturday is the ceremony, reception meal, and celebrations. All guests depart by Noon on Sunday. Oswegatchie provides lodging based on seasonal availability, which affects how many people can stay on-site. The budget range for this event typically lies between $15,000 - $20,000 for a 150-person event. The full payment is due on the Friday of the Wedding Weekend. The Deposit required is $5,000 at the time of reservation.
The price for our 2026 Reception Dinner is $70 per person. This includes a cocktail hour & the main meal. For this price, we will have the dining hall prepped, assist with decorating, provide service staff, and handle cleanup. Couples get to choose two meats, two vegetables, one potato dish, and one pasta dish. When you're ready to book your event, a menu will be made available for selection. See menu options by clicking here. The cocktail hour includes Croghan Bologna, local cheese curd, cheeses, crackers, fresh fruit, and vegetables with dip. Beverages include iced water, iced tea, and lemonade.

How many wedding guests can Oswegatchie hold? The main room of Sentinel Hall can hold 300 people using our 8-seat rectangular tables. Additionally, the second room, known as the Chapin Room, can accommodate up to 120 people at 6-seat round tables. This would bring our maximum capacity for Sentinel Hall to 420 people.
How many overnight wedding guests can Oswegatchie hold? When using the two main lodges, seven rustic cabins, RV spots, and campsite cabins, an estimated 150 adults could stay overnight. This is more dependent on the time of year and the weather conditions.
Other local accommodations? There are a variety of Airbnbs in the Croghan area, two motels near Lowville, and plenty of lodging in Watertown, 1 hour away.
What about alcohol? Oswegatchie does not have a liquor license. If you wish to have alcohol at your event, you will need to purchase it and provide it for your guests at no fee. Oswegatchie staff will help set this out and maintain the inventory. We recommend beer and wine only, but we can discuss ways for you to have a mixed drink available. Talk with William early in the planning process about alcohol.
Children's Meal Rates? Children under 5 are free, children 6-10 are ½ price, and youth aged 11 and up will be charged as an adult.
Cake? Oswegatchie does not provide cake. We can help serve it. Most couples have been switching to cupcakes or cookies because they're easier to portion and transport.
Decorations? Most couples fast-track the decorations as soon as they get here. You will be responsible for setting up and taking down decorations. Oswegatchie will not provide any tools or decorations. We do not allow nails or tacks in the new dining hall. Tents and other rental features may be set up accordingly. If you wish to have cloth table coverings and napkins, you must provide them. We have worked with Party Rentals of Watertown, NY.
Decoration Tips? The new trend for weddings is to buy decorations from other weddings online or resell your decorations afterward to recoup expenses. This smart move allows you to save hundreds of dollars. The dining hall tables already look great. Keep set-up to a minimum.
No Candles or Open Flames? No open flames for decorations; however, floating candles in water are acceptable. Torches are not allowed due to all the tinder in the forest. We do provide campfires.
What does Oswegatchie not provide? Oswegatchie does not offer bedding, music, officiant, flowers, photography, or cake.

Does Oswegatchie provide ice? Yes, we have two ice machines and will supply ice.
Cell Service and Wifi? We lose cell service 6 miles before arriving at the camp. Yes, we have Wi-Fi and high-speed internet. Most people use wifi calling when on-site.
What do you have for seating? Oswegatchie has 150 black folding banquet chairs and 150 two-seater wooden benches. We can use either in the dining hall or for a ceremony. Depending on the situation, we can discuss more chairs for excelsior or event weddings only.
Can guests use the kitchen to make anything? When booking, if you rent Sutliff, Foster, or take the Excelsior package, you will have access to our secondary kitchens. Foster is more residential, but Sutlff is a more professional kitchen.
Can we do fireworks? We only allow professional fireworks for weddings. There is too much tinder in the surrounding forests to be left to amateurs. We recommend the "American Firework Displays, LLC". They did a 2025 show here, and it was awesome.
Do we have to take all of the items in the Excelsior Package? No, you can choose other ways to accomplish the rehearsal dinner and breakfasts. Talk with William about working out other options.
